Arathra is developing a documentary about expats. We want to explore why it is that some people feel the urge to live away from their home country; why some people have the urge to travel and explore new places; why some people are attracted by the unknown. And of course we'll be looking at why some people are the opposite!
In the documentary we'll be talking to plenty of expats, sociologists, travellers as well as those who've spent their entire lives living within a few miles of their birthplace.
The questions we hope to ask - and answer - include:
- Why do people want to live in other countries?
- What makes a successful expat?
- What's the difference between and expat and an immigrant?
- Why travel? What's the appeal? What is it that compels some people to go out into the unknown?
To help in the documentary we are interested in speaking to expats who have spent a relevant part of their life living abroad. We would love to hear from people who have an interesting story to tell about why they've gone out to live abroad.
